Strasbourg Christmas market
27 November–24 December 2026
Eight markets across Strasbourg's island centre, keeping up a tradition that dates back to 1570.
Strasbourg's Christkindelsmärik dates from 1570 and has stood on Place Broglie since 1870. In 2026 it runs from 27 November to 24 December across eight markets on the Grande Île, including the cathedral square, Place Kléber with the Great Christmas Tree, and Petite France. Chalets open 11:00 to 21:00 daily (from 14:00 on opening day and until 18:00 on Christmas Eve), and nothing reopens after Christmas. The station is a ten-minute walk away and the centre is closed to cars during opening hours, so arrive by train or use a park-and-ride, where the ticket includes a return tram journey. Mondays, Tuesdays and mornings are calmest; Wednesday afternoons, Friday evenings and weekends are the busiest. Drink vin chaud from a deposit cup and buy a bag of bredele, the small Alsatian Christmas biscuits.
